The government has appointed Bhupendra Bhandari was appointed Executive Chairman of Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA).
The Cabinet meeting on Sunday took a decision to this regard, according to Minister for Communications and Information, Rekha Sharma.
The newly appointed Bhandari was earlier working as an expert advisor to the Minister of Communication and Information Technology, Rekha Sharma.
A chartered accountant, Bhandari previously worked as the CEO of Burundi-based Smart Telecom.
Earlier, the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology recommended 3 names for the post of Chairman of NTA.
Bhandari will lead the authority as executive chairman for the next 5 years.
Bhandari told Technology Khabar that there is a plan to make telecommunications accessible and; to advance ICT and work accordingly.
“I will proceed according to my plan. I will work to solve the problems and make telecommunications accessible to everyone,” Bhandari said.
The Cabinet meeting also decided to send the report of the probe committee on dispute over Ncell share sale to the related agency for implementation.
